Brief

Since being acquired by BMW, Rolls-Royce had gone through a technological revolution. The company needed to tell this story and haul the brand into the 21st century. Although it was now a modern, highly sophisticated vehicle, public perception was lagging behind. This was not helped by the site at time - a burgundy and beige affair featuring little dynamic content and ‘golf club’ photography. Additionally, the company wanted to emphasise the car’s bespoke nature, particularly the many hours of work that goes into the creation of these hand-built vehicles.

Strategy

We decided that the focus of the site should naturally be the Phantom itself. Working with the designers of the car, we turned the supplied CAD data into an interactive 3D model allowing the user to fully explore the vehicle from all angles - inside and out. The site was expansive and media rich -extensively employing video and animation, telling the creative journey of the car from drawing board to final product. Taking the grey from Roll-Royce’s corporate colour palette we gave the site a cool, modern feel and fresh photographic imagery was commissioned - directed by our print team.

Result

Site traffic increased substantially and although a relatively small concern at the time, we became Rolls-Royce’s agency of choice.
